About Us

Habitat for Humanity of Saline County is part of a global nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities, and hope.

We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

Since becoming an affiliate in 1998, we have built more than 80 homes for local families. A typical new Habitat home here appraises around $140,000 and is sold at cost to buyers for about $110,000 with a zero percent interest mortgage. Monthly payments are recycled into our Fund for Humanity to help build future homes, and partner families contribute sweat equity on their own homes while helping build other families’ houses as well.

Our Mission, Vision, and Impact

Guided by faith and driven by compassion, we bring people together to create lasting change in Saline County.

Our Mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. We partner with families, volunteers, churches, businesses, and donors so more neighbors can achieve safe, affordable homeownership in Saline County

Our Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live. We believe every person deserves a simple, durable home and a supportive community where families can thrive and build brighter futures.

Our Methods

We build and preserve homes using volunteer labor, donated or discounted materials, and responsible, energy-efficient designs. Partner families complete homeowner education and contribute sweat equity—at least 300 hours plus 150 hours for each additional able-bodied adult—then purchase their homes at cost through a zero percent interest mortgage.

Monthly payments recycle into our local Fund for Humanity, helping build the next home and creating a sustainable cycle of homeownership in our community.

Our Results

Through the work of Habitat for Humanity of Saline County, low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing. Since becoming an affiliate in 1998, we have partnered with families to build more than 80 homes across Saline County.

Local churches have risen to the challenge of practical discipleship. The community has improved as citizens join together to successfully tackle a significant social problem. Habitat traditionally builds two to three homes each year. The giving of volunteer labor, money, and materials makes all of this possible.
